Metformin is one of the best treatments for Type 2 diabetes. It works really well for some patients but it does not work very well for others. We are looking to see if there is anything special in the urine or blood of patients who respond to Metformin differently. We are particularly interested in the patients who respond exceptionally well to this treatment and those who respond poorly. By comparing these two groups of people we might work out why some people don’t respond well (and also why some do respond well!).
